Ireland's County Kerry is a great place to visit and to paint.  The coastline is a constant source of inspiration, whether it's a fishing trawler at a quayside or one of the glorious stretches of beach . . .

 

The works of my favourite author, JRR Tolkien, are rich with imagery just crying out to be painted.  

Painting from life teaches you to really look at what you are seeing - whether you interpret it literally or in your own way, the emphasis on tone is invaluable.  

  

I've worked in London for many years; I'm currently based at Bankside near the Globe Theatre.  The area is a fascinating source of inspiration . . .

 

Some of these are a useful exercise in getting something down on paper quickly.  Others took longer . . . I love flowers and keep coming back to them!
